Ardly Design Studios is a Harare-based architectural practice with over fourteen years of experience shaping the built environment across Zimbabwe. From intimate private residences in Borrowdale to landmark commercial developments in the CBD, we bring the same rigour and sensitivity to every project.
Our work begins with listening. Every client has a vision — our role is to translate that vision into spaces that are not only functional and beautiful, but that hold their character for generations to come.
"The most important material with which we design is space itself — how light moves through it, how people inhabit it, how it ages."
Every building below is a real Ardly project. Scroll through a miniature streetscape of five completed builds — residential estates, mixed-use hubs, and commercial towers across Harare.
Every building we create becomes part of someone's daily life — and part of Harare's skyline for decades. We treat that responsibility with the seriousness it deserves, never prioritising novelty over longevity.
Architecture that ignores its surroundings fails its city. We design buildings that belong — to their neighbourhood, their climate, their culture. A Borrowdale home should feel of Borrowdale.
Technical programmes define what a building must do. But the real brief is the person who will live or work in it. We invest time in knowing our clients so the architecture knows them too.
We spend time with you — on site, in conversation, understanding not just what you want to build, but why, and what you want it to feel like to live or work in.
The first design response — spatial arrangements, massing, light strategy, and the governing idea that will carry through every subsequent decision.
The concept is refined into a buildable reality. Materials selected, structure resolved, regulatory submissions prepared. Drawings evolve to the level of a construction document.
We remain on the project through to completion — site visits, contractor management, quality oversight — until the building is delivered exactly as designed.
Cross-ventilation, thermal mass, and the orientation of openings — how we approach passive cooling in residential design.
